Chart House Dinner FundraiserOn February 21, 2002, thanks to the enormous generosity of the Chart House in Los Gatos, and especially its then manager, Tom Hess, we were able to hold a dinner fundraiser. The upstairs dining room and manpower was donated by the Chart House, and its vendors supplied the food. Guests paid $50 a head for a Buffet Dinner including Sesame Salmon, Prime Rib with Mash Potatoes, Pepper Chicken with Rice and Mud Pie desert. A heartening performance by Jazz Singer, Gillian Harwin (Ashleigh's sister) was enjoyed by all. The evening featured a very successful “Silent Auction” with goods and services donated by friends, family and local merchants. At the last minute, two leather jackets were contributed by a guest as auction items. Because they were donated so late in the evening, no one had bid for them. To drive up the bids, my brother Adam's friend, Dave Kneebone, stepped up to help. He performed a "real" auction! You would not have believed he was a first time auctioneer! Dave (left) used Adam (right) and Erik Feyling (center) as models for the jackets. They also felt quite comfortable calling the bids across the room, so as you can imagine it was very hectic. The jackets sold for about $200 to $250 each!
